Configuring a Scan Source - Custom Method
This section explains how to use the Configure Sources dialog box to configure a
source for a scanner that is not certified or compatible with VRS. You may need to use
this method if you are using a scanning application that requires a custom source with
a specific naming convention.
X To configure a custom source for your scanner
1 Make sure that the necessary scanner driver is installed on your computer.
2 Start the Scanner Configuration Utility.
3 From the “Available Image Devices” list, expand the Scanners node and
locate the name of the manufacturer associated with your scanner.
Note The scanner manufacturer list consists of VRS-certified scanners, as
well as any scanner for which a driver has been installed on your computer.
4 Select the name of your scanner model and click Configure Sources. The
Configure Sources dialog box will display with the name of the scanner in the
title bar (Figure A-3).

5 From the Configure Sources dialog box, click New. The Create Source dialog
box will display (Figure A-4).
